Nasi' was a practice in vogue among the pre-Islamic Arabs: they
altered the duration of the four sacred months. Whenever they
wished to start fighting or to loot and plunder - and they could
not do so during the sacred months - they carried out their
expedition in one of the sacred months and then later on
compensated for this violation by treating one of the non-sacred
months as a sacred month.
